Windows Protection Suite is a common Windows application which will install itself on your PC and then attempt to perform a series of “antivirus scans”. In the industry, this program is what’s known as a “Fake Antivirus” tool because it actually does nothing to help your computer, and has been designed to steal your personal details & con you into buying the upgrade of the software. Unfortunately, removing this program can be quite difficult because of the way it’s been designed to “embed” itself onto your system. You should not trust the Windows Protection Suite program, as it basically tries to trick you into downloading the upgrade of the software by showing a series of false antivirus results.
Often referred to as “Malware” (Malicious Software) by industry experts, this type of infection is very common and always works in the same way – uses a legitimate-looking antivirus program to try and lure you into buying a fake upgrade & monitors your Internet activity to try and steal your personal information. All this means that if you have this virus on your PC, you really need to get rid of it before any serious damage is caused.
The way to remove this infection is to completely get rid of all its various elements. However, as many people are now discovering – this can be a lot trickier than you might first think. The problem is that not only does this virus have a false application to remove, but it has a series of hidden files & codes which are almost invisible to most antivirus programs. The hidden files & codes that Windows Protection Suite has, are all kept in the likes of the Windows folder and are there to separately monitor your Internet activity, to try and steal your data. It’s these hidden files which are the most damaging part of this infection, and are the ones which make it quite difficult to remove from your PC.
Many people will try and manually remove the program files this virus needs to run, which can be found here:

%UserProfile%\Application Data\Windows Protection Suite
Unfortunately, removing the program files / uninstalling this virus generally doesn’t work to get rid of it completely. This is because of the way the virus has a series of false files which continually cause it to dig into your system and become difficult to remove.
The way to get rid of this program is to use an “Anti-Malware” tool on your PC. Anti-malware programs do what this virus pretends to do, which is to scan through your PC and remove all the infected elements which could be on it. By using a program that’s been designed by a large software company (who you can trust), you will be able to send it through your PC and remove WPS. The tool that does this the best is a program called “XoftSpy”, which is very popular & has been developed by a company called Pareto Logic in Canada. This tool was the program that was able to fix the most elements of the Windows Protection Suite infection on our computers, allowing us to clear up our computer completely. You can use this tool by downloading it onto your system and then letting it perform a “deep scan”. This will remove all the infected files, allowing your PC to run smoother again.
